Fish Shop & Ride

Posted by Jed | Posted on 31-03-2008

Barracuda celebrated their recent change of locations with a backyard style patio party at the shop on Melrose Friday night. It started right around the end of my shift, so a small group of us walked over after work to partake in the festivities. Drop by to see their new location and do some shopping, they’ve done a great job with the re-model, I especially dig the flooring they’ve chosen. After the party Ace and myself took off to go meet up with a ride for the evening. We saw Tak on the way out of the party and he rode with us to the meeting spot for the ride. Shortly after we got there, he took off on his own way. The ride was good, but the stops were a bit long so we decided to cut and make a break for downtown. I got a flat in front of the Hollywood and Vine train station, so I caught the last train and ended my night.

Larkins

Posted by Jed | Posted on 31-03-2008

Jillian and I went and had lunch over at Larkins in Eagle Rock on Saturday. I read about it a couple months back in a magazine and have been wanting to go chow down there ever since. The food was pretty damn good and the atmosphere was even better. Larkins isn’t a large scale restaurant with a lot waiters and hostesses, but a house that was converted and was able to to retain all it’s charm. Matter of fact, there was only two servers and they gave the best service we’ve received in a long time. Prepare yourself for some tasty plates. Jillian had the fried chicken with potato salad and I had the hot link corn dogs with the macaroni and cheese balls. Very delicious! It is easier to get in for lunch as we did, the wait can be pretty long in the evenings, so call ahead.

Might be worth checking out, even though it’s on the west side. Patagonia knows what’s up.

BigDog is a quadruped robot currently being developed by Boston Dynamics with funding from DARPA. This does indeed look like the beginnings of the At-At. It is amazing and kinda scary how mammal like the reflexes are.

CDG L.A.

Posted by Jed | Posted on 15-03-2008

Had the day off today, it was a little windy and looking like it might rain but I took a ride into downtown anyways. I dropped by the CDG store to say hi to Bret and Tak. I stumbled in to a photo shoot they were just finishing up by Tom Fowlks for Wallpaper*. The store looks great and has got a lot of press lately, as it should! The bare bones design and attention to detail is phenomenal. Look for more to come within the store with Unholy Matrimony and other collaborations. Thanks for helping me with the adjustments on my bike Tak. My bike was riding much better until I broke my toestrap!

Giorgio Moroder. This man has produced some of the best artists ever! His own music wasn’t too bad either, I highly recommend the tracks “Knights in White Satin” and “E=Mc2″ Check his list of awards on his official website. It will blow your mind!
