Mister Lonely - agnes b.

Last Friday was rad. I got off work and rode my bike over to agnes b. to catch the opening party for an exhibition of photos from Harmony Korine’s new film “Mister Lonely”. Aaron Rose curated the show and the Sads played as well. I showed up after they had already started, but what I did catch, was great! Lots of good people and a overall good vibe. Thanks for the book Chris!
After that I rode over to Barracuda for a party they were hosting for K.Z.O. I hung out there for a couple hours and rapped out with siblings Joel and Katie, Kai, Bret and Tak as well. Make sure to check out Barracuda when you have a chance.

Maarten Baas

Maarten Baas brings us an indoor version of the iconic white plastic outdoor chair made from hand carved wood. I wouldn’t mind having a few of these around the house.

Last Monday…

Last Monday Ace and I had planned on going for a nice ride into downtown.  Cousin Jacob called and reminded me of his show that night at the Viper Room. So we jumped on our bikes and took a leisurely ride through good old West Hollywood and then up Doheny Drive. I had assumed they were first up, so we’d see them play and then bolt out of there to go on our ride, but they were last. I’m glad we stayed to watch everyone play. The Golden Animals were great, I had never heard them before that night. The Growlers and My Pet Saddle put on a good show, as usual. All and all, it was a good night. Our ride after that only consisted of making it to Ace and Mary’s, but it was close to two and I was beat, so I was happy to accept a ride home by Ace via lowered Honda.

My Pet Saddle

Posted by Jed | Posted on 01-04-2008

Come check out my cousin Jacob’s band this upcoming Monday at the Viper Room. It looks as though they will be up first because their name is the smallest, so show up early. The Growlers have a good sound as well, so it may be worth sticking out through the sets to hear them play as well. How bout’ the artwork for this flyer, a little Peter Saville / Unknown Pleasures reminiscent don’t you think.

Great Scott Marty!

Posted by Jed | Posted on 01-04-2008

It’s rare that I get to see these guys in my neck of the woods, but when I do it’s a good feeling. You see, Great Scott tree service is owned by a man named Scott, and I have known him and his family for the better part of my life. He is the father to one of my few best friends, Jeremiah. The Griffiths have become my surrogate family in a sense. That kind of happens when you’ve know someone that long. The company was started by Scott when he was a teenager and has blossomed over the past 30 years into one of Southern California’s largest tree services. Perseverance can pay off and it has in this case. So if you need a tree trimmed give Great Scott a call.
